How to apply

Prospective trainees should apply using relevant application portals available on the ESAMI_trapca website www.trapca.org. They can also apply through the ESAMI Country offices, currently present in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania), Harare (Zimbabwe), Kampala (Uganda), Lilongwe (Malawi), Lusaka (Zambia), Nairobi (Kenya), Maputo (Mozambique), Mbabane (eSwatini) and Windhoek (Namibia). Fees and Financing

Financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) allows participants from eligible countries to apply for partial or full scholarship. Priority is given to qualified students from Sub-Saharan African LDCs and female participants from African Non-LDCs with the objective to obtain gender balance. In order to facilitate equitable country spread, ESAMI_trapca strives to allocate at least two scholarships per each eligible Sub-Saharan Africa LDC. Scholarships are awarded conditional on available funds.

As part of the sustainability initiatives to boost the number of fee paying participants, tuition fees for the ESAMI_trapca products will be indicated on the ESAMI_trapca website as per the respective ESAMI_trapca course category.

*Students who pay for at least 6 advanced courses at the time of first enrolment will be exempted from paying this fee for the pre-requisite eLearning.

ESAMI_trapca with funding from the Swedish Government through Sida provides a limited number of scholarships for the Academic Courses to applicants from African Least Developed Countries (LDCs) and Low-Income Countries (LICs)as per the UN List of LDCs and LICs. A total of 20 scholarships are available per academic course and these are awarded by a committee following a review of received applications for full or partial scholarships from eligible applicants (those from African LDCs/LICs and female students from African Lower Middle Income countries (LMICs). The scholarship committee is guided by a scholarship policy, which stipulates as follows:

Applicants under consideration must have been admitted into the respective Trapca’s academic programme (Pre-requisite to Advanced Courses or Advanced Courses);
In order to facilitate country representation by participants from all eligible target LDC/LIC African beneficiary countries, two scholarships are awarded per country (if the number of countries are ten or less). The two slots shall be allocated based on the following criteria:
The first slot is granted to a qualifying eligible female applicant working in a trade related sector in a relevant African LDC/LIC Country. In case of Advanced courses, this is coupled with performance of the female applicant in previous courses;
The second slot is allocated to either qualifying and eligible male or female African LDC/LIC applicants from relevant sectors ranked in terms of performance in previous courses.
Any remaining slots are distributed as follows:
At least one qualifying female applicant per country, from African LMICs working in relevant sectors, ranked in terms of performance in previous courses.
Qualifying and eligible male or female African LDC/LIC applicants from relevant sectors ranked in terms of performance in previous courses.
In case of a tie among eligible applicants, whether in the category of qualifying female African LDC/LICs applicants; or qualifying male LDC/LIC applicants; or indeed qualifying female applicants from Africa LMICs, the committee’s recommendation are guided by the following filter: academic performance in previous courses with preference given to the best performer of a relevant category where a tie has occurred;

Where applicable, qualifying and eligible applicants with a potential to graduate with an award, can be given priority to a slot in a given academic year.

In circumstances where admitted students from a beneficiary country cannot avail themselves to take advantage of the admission and the scholarship granted, the scholarship will be reallocated in line with points 2 to 4 above.
