A group of Somali government officials recently concluded a comprehensive training program on economic diplomacy, focusing on enhancing their capacity to represent the nation’s interests in World Trade Organization (WTO) negotiations and regional trade forums. The training, facilitated by ESAMI-trapca and supported by the Enhanced Integrated Framework (EIF), aimed to equip officials with the necessary skills to navigate the complexities of WTO accession and regional integration. The program emphasised negotiation and advocacy skills, including simulated WTO Working Party discussions tailored to Somalia’s specific trade priorities.
By deepening their understanding of sector-specific challenges and opportunities, the officials are now better prepared to secure favourable terms for Somalia in trade agreements.
